Gathering of all Cernois, active staff and retirees,
Thursday, 19 June at 08:30 a.m. at CERN
on the Parking des Cèdres in front of the Council Chamber
Dear Members of the CERN-ESO Pensioners' Association,
At our General Assembly last March, you were informed that since the end of 2013 some Member States, bypassing the Pension Fund’s governance structure, call into question our pension conditions, in particular by attempting to reduce, or even eliminate completely, the contribution of 60 MCHF paid by the Organization, an essential component of the balanced package of measures approved by the CERN Council itself in 2010. GAC-EPA and the Staff Association have repeatedly expressed their disagreement with this approach, but so far without success.
To show our determination to defend our legitimate interests and to emphasize our support for a strong CERN, with adequate resources to fulfil its mission, a meeting of all Cernois, active and retirees, is called on the day of CERN Council, Thursday, 19 June 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the Parking des Cèdres in front of the Council Chamber.
The participants will receive the latest news on the pensions issue and will then be invited for a march around the Main Building. Afterwards they can sign a resolution of the Staff Association and GAC-EPA sent to all Member States, requesting Council:
- to respect the commitment of the Organization to pay 60 MCHF per year for 30 years, taken when approving the package of equilibration measures in 2010;
- to respect and strictly enforce the competences of the governing bodies and the rights of all stakeholders.
In the hope that you will be many to participate in the gathering, please accept my sincerest regards.
Gertjan Bossen, GAC-EPA President
